Refund policy

Effective date: October 11, 2026

This policy explains when LocalSpect ("LocalSpect", "we", "us") gives back credits or money. It puts the payment rules from our terms of service in one place. If the two ever differ, the terms apply.

The short version

  • Misses come back as credits. When a lookup finds nothing, you get credits back, and the app tells you how much before you run it.
  • Cancel any time. Your plan runs to the end of the period you've paid for, then stops.
  • Credits you buy don't expire. Plan credits renew on each billing date. Credits you buy on top stay while your account is open.
  • Charged by mistake? Tell us within 30 days. We'll sort it out with you in good faith.

1. Credits back when a lookup finds nothing

Each lookup costs credits, and the app shows the cost before you run it. When a lookup finds nothing, you pay only for what it cost us to look:

  • If the provider behind it charges nothing for a miss, you get the whole charge back.
  • If the research itself has a cost, a small part is kept and the rest comes back.

The app tells you which applies before you run it. Refunded credits go straight back to your balance.

2. Plans and cancelling

  • Plans are billed monthly or yearly through Stripe and renew automatically.
  • You can cancel at any time. Cancelling stops the next renewal, and your plan keeps working until the end of the period you've already paid for.
  • We don't refund the rest of a period that has already started, monthly or yearly, except in the cases in section 4.

3. Credits

  • Plan credits renew on your billing date and don't roll over to the next period.
  • Credits you buy on top, by hand or through auto-recharge, don't expire while your account is open.
  • Credits have no cash value and can't be transferred, so unused credits aren't paid back as money.

4. When we refund money

  • A charge that's wrong. If you think we charged you by mistake, tell us within 30 days of the charge. We'll work with you in good faith to sort it out.
  • A long outage outside our control. If an event such as a natural disaster, war or major internet outage stops the Service from working for 30 days in a row, either side may end a paid plan, and we refund the unused part of what you prepaid.
  • An intellectual property claim. If we end a plan because someone claims the Service infringes their rights, we refund the unused part of what you prepaid.
  • Your legal rights. Where the law that applies to you gives you a right to a refund, we honor it, even where it goes further than this policy.

Apart from these cases and the credit refunds in section 1, payments are non-refundable.

5. How to ask for a refund

Email [email protected] from the email address on your account, with the date and amount of the charge and what went wrong. Refunds go back to the card or payment method you paid with.

6. Disputes with your bank

Please write to us before you dispute a charge with your bank or card issuer, so we can look at it first.

7. Changes to this policy

When we change this policy, we update the effective date at the top.
