LocalSpect is a Wyoming company based in the United States ("LocalSpect", "we", "us"). This policy explains what personal data we handle, why, who we share it with, and what you can do about it, wherever you are in the world.
The short version
- We find businesses, not consumers. LocalSpect maps local businesses from public sources and, when a customer asks, finds the people who run them. We don't build profiles of private individuals.
- Two kinds of people, two roles. If you have a LocalSpect account, you're our customer. If you run or work at a business that shows up in our results, we hold a small amount of work information about you, and you can see it or have it removed.
- You don't need an account to get out. Email [email protected] with your name and the business you work for.
- Our AI providers don't train on your data. They process requests only to answer them.
- No advertising cookies. The app sets only the cookies it needs to keep you logged in and secure.
- You can get your data out or delete it. Export from the app, delete your account from your profile, or write to us.

What we collect
About account holders
- Account details: your name, email address and a hashed password. If you log in with Google, we receive your name, email address and profile picture from Google.
- Workspace details: your workspace name, the teammates you invite, and their roles.
- Billing: your plan, credit balance and purchase history. Card details go straight to our payment provider. We never see or store your full card number.
- What you do in LocalSpect: the markets you set up, the questions and agents you create, your lists and saved items, and your conversations with the in-app assistant.
- Technical data: IP address, browser and device type, and logs of requests to our servers, used to run, secure and debug the service.
- Messages: anything you send us by email or through the forms on our website.
About businesses and the people who work there
This is the data LocalSpect exists to find. It comes from public sources: business listings and maps, the business's own website, public social media pages, and public professional profiles.
- Business information: name, address, location, phone number, website, category, opening hours, public reviews and ratings, public social media pages, and photos or aerial imagery of the premises.
- Work information about people at a business, only when a customer asks for it: name, job title, the business they work for, their public professional profile, and work contact details such as a business email address or phone number.
We don't collect sensitive data (health, religion, political views and the like), we don't look for home addresses or personal phone numbers, and we don't knowingly collect data about anyone under 16.
How we use it, and why we're allowed to
| Purpose | Data | Legal basis |
|---|---|---|
| Create your account, run the service, and answer your searches and questions | Account, workspace, usage | Contract |
| Take payment and keep financial records | Billing | Contract; legal obligation |
| Send service email (verification, password reset, receipts, job updates) | Email address | Contract |
| Keep the service secure, prevent abuse, and fix problems | Technical data | Legitimate interests |
| Find and describe local businesses, and the people who make decisions there, for our customers' business-to-business sales | Business information; work information about people | Legitimate interests (ours and our customers' interest in reaching businesses that may need their products), balanced against the limited, work-only nature of the data and your right to object at any time |
Who we share it with
- Service providers who run parts of LocalSpect for us, under contract and only for that purpose: hosting, payments, email delivery, spam protection on our forms, AI processing, collection of public web pages, maps and imagery, and work contact lookup. A current list is available on request from [email protected].
- Our customers, for business information and work information about people. Providing it is what LocalSpect does. Customers must use it under our terms, which ban contacting consumers and require them to follow outreach and privacy laws.
- Authorities and courts, when the law requires it, or to protect our rights, our users or the public.
- A new owner, if LocalSpect is reorganized, merged or sold, including when the business moves into a new company. This policy keeps applying to your data.
- Anyone else, only with your consent.
We don't sell account holders' data, and we don't share it for cross-site advertising.
How long we keep it
- Account data for as long as your account is open. When you delete your account from your profile, we delete it straight away, except what we must keep by law.
- Billing records for as long as tax and accounting law requires.
- Server logs only as long as we need them to run, secure and debug the service.
- Business and work information for as long as it stays useful and accurate. We refresh or drop stale records, and we delete a person's data when they ask.
Where your data goes
LocalSpect is based in the United States, and our service providers process data in the United States and other countries. When data leaves the European Economic Area, the UK or Switzerland, we rely on the European Commission's standard contractual clauses (with the UK and Swiss versions), or on the EU–US Data Privacy Framework where a provider is certified.
Cookies
The app uses only essential cookies: a session cookie that keeps you logged in, a security cookie that protects forms, and a "remember me" cookie. We don't use advertising or cross-site tracking cookies. Our cookie policy lists each one.
Your rights
Everyone
Wherever you live, you can ask us to show you the personal data we hold about you, correct it, delete it, or stop using it, including to stop appearing in LocalSpect results. If you object, we delete your data and keep only what we need to make sure you don't show up again. Email [email protected]. You don't need an account. We may ask you to confirm your identity, and we answer within one month.
European Economic Area and United Kingdom
Under the GDPR and UK GDPR, you also have the right to restrict our processing, to receive your data in a portable format, and to withdraw consent where we rely on it. You can complain to your local data protection authority. You can also contact us directly at [email protected].
United States
Residents of California and other states with privacy laws have the right to know what personal information we collect, where it comes from, why we use it and who we disclose it to (this policy describes all of that), and to access, correct and delete it. Because we provide work contact information about people to our customers, some state laws may treat this as selling or sharing personal information. You can opt out of it at any time by emailing [email protected] or through our opt-out page, and we'll remove you from LocalSpect results. You may use an authorized agent, and we won't treat you differently for using any of these rights. California residents answer within 45 days.
Canada
Under PIPEDA, you can access and correct your personal information, withdraw consent subject to legal or contractual limits, and complain to the Office of the Privacy Commissioner of Canada.
Brazil
Under the LGPD, you have the rights of confirmation, access, correction, anonymization, deletion, portability, information about sharing, and objection, and you can complain to the ANPD.
Everywhere else
You have the rights your local law gives you, and we honor the access, correction and deletion requests above for everyone.
Security
Traffic to LocalSpect is encrypted with TLS. Passwords are hashed and never stored in plain text. Access to production systems is limited to the people who run the service. No system is perfectly secure. If a breach affects your data, we'll tell you and the authorities as the law requires. Our security policy has the details.
Changes to this policy
When we change this policy, we update the effective date at the top. If a change matters, we email account holders before it takes effect.
